Join us to kick-off the Charlie Awards season Sept. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Big Thrill Factory, 17585 MN-7, Minnetonka. Come for the food, the alcoholic beverages and to nominate the 2019 Award finalists—but stay for the bowling. We promise to make the drive worth your time.
Before the Charlies’ Academy Awards-style show on January 27 at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis, the greater Twin Cities food and beverage community has a lot of decisions to make. The first order of business is to nominate three finalists in 15—yes, that’s five more than last year—categories. The five new categories are:
• Outstanding Caterer
• Outstanding Bartender
• Outstanding Entertainment Restaurant Venue
• Best Brewery
• Best Barista.
Returning are: Outstanding Service, Outstanding Restaurateur, Outstanding Restaurant, Outstanding Baker/Pastry Chef, Outstanding Chef, Rising Star, Best Beverage Innovator, Hidden Gem, Community Hero. In addition, one iconic culinary star will be selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
This is your chance to network, meet past Charlie nominees and to help determine who will be the 2019 culinary royalty. We’ll have a short program, complimentary State Fair-style food and beer and wine, plus fun and games. In addition, there will be voting booths so you can get a jump on the polling. Online voting will start September 18 and continue through October 31. Past finalists and winners will then get together to narrow down the list to three finalists for each category that will be award on stage January 27.
Proceeds from the Charlies go to its official charity, Open Arms, an agency that makes and delivers healthy, made-from scratch meals to individuals (and their caregivers) who are struggling with life-threatening illnesses.
