Restaurant Openings




The former Mac’s Fish and Chips location on South Snelling Avenue in Macalester-Groveland already has signs up promising a new place called Sweet Spot.

 

Surdyk’s has announced plans to expand its liquor and cheese offerings with a restaurant at its East Hennepin Avenue location. Sidebar will have a 66-seat restaurant and a 34-seat bar. Food offerings are described as “globally infused cuisine.” The cheese shop area will be renovated and expanded. 

 

Mallard’s is adding a location this month in Inver Grove Heights, in the old Baja Sol spot. Mallard’s serves seafood and Cajun fare. It got its start in Bayport, but closed that location for the winter. It has other restaurants in Forest Lake and New Richmond, Wisconsin

 

Chicago-based Pinstripes, which offers made-from-scratch Italian cuisine, plus bowling and bocce ball has taken up residence in the building the Old Spaghetti Factory has occupied on Washington Avenue in Minneapolis for 25 years. 

 

Chick-fil-A announced the planned opening of a location at 9751 Xenia Ave. N., Brooklyn Park; Brandon Luffman is the franchise owner.

 

Daniel del Prado’s Argentinian-inspired Martina has successfully expanded to the former Rose Street Patisserie space in Linden Hills and is ready to start offering space for events. Its arboretum seats 20 to 60 guests.

 

Bebe Zito, an ice cream store with intense and unique flavors (Pizza-flavored ice cream?), is scheduled to open this month in the former Fox Den space at 704 West 22nd Street in Minneapolis.

Jester Concepts’ Parlour routinely gets nominated for best burger, but it’s still a bit surprising that they debuted a food truck in February. But it won’t be roaming the streets so much as providing good food for breweries and distilleries that don’t have kitchens, according to the Pioneer Press.
